Nano Lc-ms

Nano LC-MS, or nano-scale liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry, is an analytical technique that separates and identifies molecules in very small biological samples with high sensitivity. In nano LC, low-volume solvent flows carry peptides, proteins, or metabolites through a packed chromatographic column, where components separate by chemical properties before entering an electrospray ionization source; the mass spectrometer then measures their mass-to-charge ratios and fragmentation patterns. In biology, nano LC-MS supports proteomics, metabolomics, post-translational modification analysis, and biomarker research while conserving limited sample material. Its combination of chromatographic resolution and molecular detection helps characterize complex biological systems and quantify subtle changes in health, disease, and experimental conditions.

We describe the experimental method to deposit nanostructured oxide thin films by nanosecond Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) in the presence of a background gas. By using this method Al-doped ZnO (AZO) films, from compact to hierarchically structured as nano-tree forests, can be deposited.

Source: Sina Shahbazmohamadi and Peiman Shahbeigi-Roodposhti-Roodposhti, School of Engineering, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT Alloys with grain size less than 100 nm are known as nanocrystaline alloys. Due to their enhanced physical and mechanical properties, there is an ever-increasing demand to employ them in various industries such as semiconductor, biosensors and aerospace. To improve the processing and application of nanocrystalline alloys, it is necessary to develop close to 100%...

Fabrication and Operation of a Nano-Optical Conveyor Belt

The scalability and resolution of conventional optical manipulation techniques are limited by diffraction. We circumvent the diffraction limit and describe a method of optically transporting nanoparticles across a chip using a gold surface patterned with a path of closely spaced C-shaped plasmonic resonators.

Source: Peiman Shahbeigi-Roodposhti and Sina Shahbazmohamadi, Biomedical Engineering Department, University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut Nanoparticles have been increasingly used research towards targeted drug delivery and controlled drug release. While most of these particles have been developed as polymeric or liposomal particles because of their biocompatibility, there is a trend in current research toward the use of metallic and magnetic nanoparticles. These metallic nanoparticles...
