Automated Vaping Topography

Automated vaping topography is the measurement and controlled reproduction of how people use electronic cigarettes, including puff duration, volume, flow rate, and intervals. A vaping topography system uses sensors, flow-control hardware, and programmable protocols to record aerosol-generation behavior or drive an electronic cigarette under defined conditions, allowing researchers to standardize puffing patterns. In chemistry, these measurements support analysis of e-liquid composition, vaporization, aerosol particle formation, and chemical emissions. By linking device settings and user behavior to aerosol chemistry, automated topography improves laboratory reproducibility and helps evaluate exposure, product performance, and potential changes in emissions across devices and formulations.

2025

Topography involves measuring and mapping land elevations, natural features, and artificial structures to create accurate representations of the terrain. Topographic surveying relies on traditional and modern methods, each with distinct advantages and limitations.Traditional Surveying Methods:Transit stadia surveys and plane table surveys were widely used traditional surveying methods. These techniques relied on instruments like theodolites and stadia rods for measuring distances and angles,...

Laser Micromachining for Polymer Surface Topography Design

2025

A method for imposing surface topography of light-absorbing composite polymer materials, particularly magnetoactive elastomers (MAEs), by using laser micromachining is presented. This method enables large flexibility in topographical designs and rapid prototyping. An example of structuring MAE surfaces, characterization, and their response to the external magnetic field is demonstrated.

Neural circuits are topographically organized into functional compartments with specific molecular profiles. Here, we provide the practical and technical steps for revealing global brain topography using a versatile wholemount immunohistochemical staining approach. We demonstrate the utility of the method using the well-understood cytoarchitecture and circuitry of cerebellum.

Peptide adsorption to plasticware during traditional tip-based serial dilutions can significantly impact potency determination and confound the understanding of structure-activity relationships used for lead identification and lead optimization phases of drug discovery. Here methods for automated acoustic non-contact serial dilution of peptide samples are described.
