Cytology Canister

A cytology canister is a sealed specimen container used to collect, preserve, and transport cells or cellular material for microscopic examination in clinical diagnostics. Its design helps maintain specimen integrity by containing the sample, limiting leakage and contamination, and supporting use with an appropriate cytology preservative or transport medium; secure labeling links the material to the patient and collection details. In clinical workflows, cytology canisters support the handling of samples from procedures such as fluid aspiration or tissue sampling before laboratory preparation, staining, and evaluation. Proper use improves sample traceability, safety, and the reliability of cytologic assessment.
