Prerenal Aki

Prerenal acute kidney injury (AKI) is a sudden decline in kidney function caused by inadequate renal perfusion, with no initial structural damage to the kidney tissue. Reduced circulating volume or cardiac output lowers renal blood flow and glomerular filtration, triggering compensatory activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and sympathetic nervous system to retain sodium and water. Common clinical causes include dehydration, blood loss, heart failure, and sepsis. Recognizing prerenal AKI is essential because timely restoration of circulation, correction of the underlying cause, and avoidance of nephrotoxic exposures can reverse dysfunction and prevent progression to intrinsic kidney injury.

Integrated Bone Formation Through In Vivo Endochondral Ossification Using Mesenchymal Stem Cells

2023

Bone therapy via endochondral ossification by implanting artificial cartilage tissue produced from mesenchymal stem cells has the potential to circumvent the drawbacks of conventional therapies. Hyaluronic acid hydrogels are effective in scaling up uniformly differentiated cartilage grafts as well as creating integrated bone with vascularization between fused grafts in vivo.

Phagocytosis Assay for Apoptotic Cells in Drosophila Embryos

2017

We herein describe a phagocytosis assay using the dispersed embryonic cells of Drosophila. It enables us to easily and precisely quantify in vivo phagocytosis levels, and to identify new molecules required for the phagocytosis of apoptotic cells.
