Transnasal Approach

The transnasal approach is a surgical route that reaches structures behind the nose through the nasal passages, providing access without a large external incision. Surgeons typically use an endoscope, a slender camera with specialized instruments, to navigate the nasal cavity and adjacent spaces while preserving surrounding tissue; careful visualization and management of nasal anatomy are essential. In medicine, this approach supports procedures involving the sinonasal region, skull base, and pituitary area, and can reduce visible scarring and disruption of facial tissues. Its development has expanded minimally invasive surgery and continues to inform techniques for treating complex head and brain conditions.
