Cbf Atlas Construction

Cerebral blood flow (CBF) atlas construction is the process of creating a standardized map of blood-flow patterns across the brain, providing a reference for studying regional perfusion and neurovascular function. It combines CBF measurements from brain-imaging datasets, aligns individual brains to a common anatomical space, and aggregates the registered data to represent typical spatial distributions and regional variation. These atlases help researchers compare perfusion between individuals or experimental groups, identify abnormalities associated with neurological disease, and interpret functional or structural imaging findings. They can also support quantitative analyses and improve consistency across neuroscience studies.

Tissue microarrays allows for an efficient method to gain concurrent information from a multitude of tissues. Representative parts of tissues are assembled into a single paraffin block. Sections from the block are used for immunohistochemistry and analysis of protein expression patterns. Digital scanning generates corresponding images for distribution of data.

Construction and Application of Cerebral Functional Region-Based Cerebral Blood Flow Atlas Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Arterial Spin Labeling

2024

This study integrated magnetic resonance imaging- arterial spin labeling images to derive cerebral blood flow (CBF) atlas for cerebral functional regions. Comparing typical healthy and chronic cerebral ischemia CBF atlases revealed significant differences in regional CBF distributions, enabling rapid, noninvasive assessments of functional CBF to assist in diagnosis and evaluate therapeutics.

Here, we demonstrate fabrication of collagen-based, tissue constructs containing skeletal myoblasts. These 3-D engineered constructs may be used to replace or repair tissues in vivo. For our purposes, we have designed these as an atrioventricular electrical conduit for the repair of complete heart block[1].
