Csf Contamination Check

A CSF contamination check is a quality-control assessment used to determine whether cerebrospinal fluid has been altered by blood or other material during collection, handling, or processing. It typically examines the sample’s appearance and red blood cell content, often comparing sequential collection tubes because contamination from a traumatic tap may decrease across the series, while true intracranial bleeding can produce persistent abnormalities. In neuroscience, this check helps distinguish procedure-related contamination from clinically meaningful hemorrhage, supports accurate interpretation of cellular and biochemical measurements, and improves the reliability of downstream research involving biomarkers, inflammation, infection, and neurological disease.

A Cell Free Assay System Estimating the Neutralizing Capacity of GM-CSF Antibody using Recombinant Soluble GM-CSF Receptor

2011

We designed a cell-free receptor binding assay in order to estimate the binding of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) to the receptors. It enables us to evaluate competitive inhibition of biotinylated GM-CSF binding to soluble GM-CSF receptor alpha by GM-CSF autoantibody with excellent reproducibility.

An In Vitro Technique to Differentiate GM-CSF Producing T Helper Cells from Naïve T Cells

2025

This video demonstrates the in vitro differentiation of granulocyte-macrophage-colony-stimulating factor or GM-CSF-producing T helper cells (THGM). Isolated naïve T cells are stimulated for differentiation into THGM, which is confirmed by detecting high intracellular GM-CSF production and a low expression of other T helper cell-specific cytokines.

Here detailed protocols for culturing the murine myeloid precursor 32D/G-CSF-R cell line, performing viral infections, and carrying out proliferation and differentiation assays are presented. This cell line is suitable for studying myeloid cell development, and the role of genes of interest in myeloid cell growth and neutrophilic differentiation.

Contaminants and Errors

2024

Effective sample preparation is crucial for accurate and reliable laboratory analysis. During this process, two significant sources of error can arise: concentration bias from improper sample splitting and contamination caused by methods used to reduce particle size, such as grinding or homogenization. Identifying and minimizing these potential errors is crucial to ensuring the validity of the analysis. Another key consideration is determining the appropriate number of samples required to...
