Axial and Appendicular Muscles

Die Skelettmuskulatur wird hauptsächlich in zwei Gruppen unterteilt: die axiale und die appendikuläre.
Die axialen Muskeln entlang der Mittellinie des Körpers sind hauptsächlich mit dem Kopf-, Nacken- und Rumpfbereich verbunden.
Im Kopf- und Nackenbereich ist die Axialmuskulatur für Mimik, Sprechen, Essen und verschiedene Kopfbewegungen von entscheidender Bedeutung.
Darüber hinaus unterstützen einige Nackenmuskeln die hinteren Rumpfmuskeln, die allgemein als Rückenmuskulatur bezeichnet werden, bei den Bewegungen der Wirbelsäule.
Die Brustmuskulatur bildet zusammen mit den Bauchmuskeln wie dem geraden, schrägen und queren Muskel die anterolateralen Wände des Rumpfes.
Schließlich hat das untere axiale Skelett Muskeln, die sich zwischen dem Kreuzbein und dem Beckengürtel erstrecken und den Beckenboden bilden.
Auf der anderen Seite sind die Blinddarmmuskeln diejenigen, die mit dem Brustgürtel, dem Beckengürtel und den Gliedmaßen verbunden sind.
Diese Muskeln stabilisieren und stützen die beweglichen Strukturen beim Gehen, Laufen und anderen körperlichen Aktivitäten.
Die Blinddarmmuskulatur der oberen Extremität reicht von den Schultern bis zu den Händen, während die Muskeln der unteren Gliedmaßen von den Hüften bis zu den Füßen reichen.

Skelettmuskeln, die Schlüsselakteure der Bewegung unseres Körpers, können je nach Lage und Funktion in zwei Gruppen eingeteilt werden: Axialmuskeln und Appendikularmuskeln. Diese Klassifizierungen spiegeln die primäre Rolle wider, die die Muskeln in der Struktur und Bewegung des Körpers spielen.

Axiale Muskeln

Die entlang der Mittellinie des Körpers gelegenen Axialmuskeln sind eng mit dem Axialskelett verbunden, zu dem Schädel, Wirbelsäule, Rippen und Brustbein gehören. Diese Muskeln ermöglichen Gesichtsausdrücke und spielen eine entscheidende Rolle bei verschiedenen Kopf- und Nackenbewegungen, beim Sprechen und Essen. Sie tragen sogar dazu bei, die Bewegungen der Wirbelsäule in Koordination mit der Rückenmuskulatur zu steuern. Darüber hinaus bilden die Brustmuskeln, einschließlich der geraden, schrägen und quer verlaufenden Bauchmuskeln, die anterolateralen Wände des Rumpfes und bieten Stabilität und Halt. Darüber hinaus erstrecken sich die unteren axialen Skelettmuskeln zwischen Kreuzbein und Beckengürtel und sind aktiv an der Bildung des Beckenbodens beteiligt.

Appendikuläre Muskeln

Im Gegensatz dazu sind die Appendikularmuskeln hauptsächlich mit dem Brustgürtel, dem Beckengürtel und den Gliedmaßen verbunden. Diese Muskeln sorgen für Stabilität und Halt und tragen aktiv zur Bewegung des Körpers bei Aktivitäten wie Gehen, Laufen und verschiedenen körperlichen Tätigkeiten bei. Die oberen Gliedmaßen sind mit Muskeln ausgestattet, die von den Schultern bis zu den Händen reichen und es uns ermöglichen, komplizierte Aufgaben auszuführen. Ebenso verfügen die unteren Gliedmaßen über Muskeln, die sich von der Hüfte bis zu den Füßen erstrecken und für Beweglichkeit und Gleichgewicht sorgen.

Skeletal muscles support movement and body structure. They are grouped into axial muscles and appendicular muscles based on where they are found and what they do.

Axial muscles lie along the body’s midline. They connect with the axial skeleton, which includes the skull, spine, ribs, and sternum. These muscles help with facial expressions, head and neck movement, speaking, and eating. They also help control movement of the vertebral column with the back muscles.

The trunk also contains thoracic muscles such as the rectus abdominis, oblique muscles, and transverse abdominal muscles. These muscles form the anterolateral walls of the trunk and add stability and support. Lower axial muscles extend between the sacrum and the pelvic girdle. They help form the pelvic floor.

Appendicular muscles are linked to the pectoral girdle, pelvic girdle, and limbs. They help stabilize these regions and power movement during activities like walking and running. The upper limb muscles run from the shoulders to the hands, which allows fine tasks. The lower limb muscles run from the hips to the feet, which supports mobility and balance.

Content elaboration: The integumentary system consists of skin and accessory structures. The skin is composed of three layers: the epidermis, the dermis and the hypodermis (subcutaneous layer). The accessory structures can include sweat glands, sebaceous glands, arrector pili muscles, hair follicles and nails. Skin functions include protection, temperature regulation, excretion and sensory perception. These occur through the processes of perspiration, skin production and shedding, vitamin D synthesis and repair. Homeostatic imbalances are explored. These include, but are not limited to, burns, skin cancer, anhidrosis, acne, eczema or scleroderma. Investigations are used to understand and explain the integumentary system in a variety of inquiry and design scenarios that can incorporate evolutionary concepts, scientific reasoning, comparative analysis, communication skills and real-world applications.

Content elaboration: The skeletal system is composed of bones, cartilage, joints and ligaments. Bones make up most of the skeleton. There are four main cell types that compose bone tissue, each with a specific function: osteogenic cells, osteocytes, osteoblasts and osteoclasts. The microscopic anatomy of compact bone includes osteons. Bones are classified by their shape. The structure of a typical long bone can be explored. Specific bones of the skeleton can be studied by their subdivisions: the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. Cartilage is found in areas of the nose, ears, ribs and joints. Joints can be classified by structure or by function. The general structure of synovial joints may be explored. Ligaments connect bone to bone, stabilizing joints. The skeletal system provides support for the human body, protects soft organs, allows for movement due to attachment of muscles, stores minerals and fat and forms blood cells. Processes of the skeletal system include hematopoiesis, ossification and bone growth and remodeling. A comparison of male to female, juvenile to adult or human to other vertebrate skeletons may be explored. Homeostatic imbalances are explored. These include, but are not limited to, osteoporosis, malnutrition, fractures, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and arthritis.
