Muscles of the Abdomen

Die Wand um die Bauchhöhle kann in anterolaterale und hintere Bereiche unterteilt werden.
Die Wände der anterolateralen Region bestehen aus fünf paarigen Muskeln. Sie werden in die laterale und die anteriore Gruppe eingeteilt.
Ausgehend von der Oberfläche und nach innen hat die laterale Gruppe drei flache Muskeln: den äußeren schrägen, den inneren schrägen und den transversus abdominis.
Die inneren schrägen Muskeln verlaufen senkrecht unter den oberflächlichen äußeren schrägen Muskeln, während der Musculus transversus abdominis hauptsächlich quer um die Bauchdecke verläuft.
Die Aponeurosen dieser Muskeln verflechten sich und bilden die Linea alba, ein vertikales Band aus fibrösem Bindegewebe, das vom Brustbein bis zur Schambeinsymphyse verläuft.
Die vorderen Muskeln – der Rectus abdominis und die Pyramidalis – sind beidseitig zur Linea alba positioniert.
Die hintere Bauchdecke liegt zwischen dem letzten Brust- und Lendenwirbel. Zu seinen paarigen Muskeln gehören der Quadratus lumborum, der Psoas major und der Iliacus.
Während sich der Musculus psoas major und der Musculus iliacus bis in die unteren Gliedmaßen erstrecken, erstreckt sich der Musculus quadratus lumborum vom Beckenkamm bis zur letzten Rippe.

Die Bauchdecke umschließt die Bauchhöhle, bietet flexiblen Schutz und schützt die inneren Organe vor Schäden. Es wird oben durch den Schwertfortsatz und die Rippenränder, hinten durch die Wirbelsäule und unten durch die Beckenknochen und das Leistenband begrenzt. Die Bauchdecke ist in zwei Regionen unterteilt – die anterolaterale und die hintere Region.

Anterolaterale Region

Die anterolaterale Region umfasst fünf paarige Muskeln, die in die laterale und anteriore Gruppe eingeteilt werden. Die laterale Gruppe besteht aus drei flachen Muskeln – dem äußeren schrägen Muskel, dem inneren schrägen Muskel und dem Transversus abdominis. Die inneren schrägen Muskeln verlaufen senkrecht zu den oberflächlichen äußeren schrägen Muskeln, während der Musculus transversus abdominis hauptsächlich quer um die Bauchdecke verläuft. Die Aponeurosen dieser Muskeln verschränken sich und bilden die Linea alba, ein faseriges Bindegewebsband, das vertikal vom Schwertfortsatz des Brustbeins zur Schambeinfuge verläuft.

Die vorderen Muskeln, insbesondere der Rectus abdominis und der Pyramidalis, liegen bilateral zur Linea alba. Der lange, flache Musculus rectus abdominis erstreckt sich vom Brustbein und den Rippen bis zum Schambein. Direkt unter dem unteren Teil des Rectus abdominis liegt der Pyramidalis, ein kleiner und oft variabler Muskel, den nicht jeder hat. Wenn es vorhanden ist, befindet es sich vor dem Rectus abdominis und setzt am Schambein und an der Linea alba an.

Hinterer Bereich

Die hintere Bauchwand befindet sich zwischen den letzten Brust- und Lendenwirbeln und besteht aus paarigen Muskeln, einschließlich Quadratus lumborum, Psoas Major, Psoas Minor und Iliacus. Der Quadratus lumborum befindet sich tief im unteren Rücken auf beiden Seiten der Lendenwirbelsäule. Es handelt sich um einen wichtigen Stabilisatormuskel, der sich vom Beckenkamm bis zu den unteren Rippen und Lendenwirbeln erstreckt und dabei hilft, eine aufrechte Haltung aufrechtzuerhalten. The abdominal wall muscles support the abdominal cavity and help protect the internal organs. This flexible wall is bordered by the xiphoid process and costal margins at the top, the vertebral column at the back, and the pelvic bones and inguinal ligament at the bottom. It is divided into the anterolateral region and the posterior region.

The anterolateral region includes five paired muscles in two groups. The lateral group contains the external oblique, internal oblique, and transversus abdominis muscles. The internal oblique runs perpendicular to the more superficial external oblique, and the transversus abdominis wraps mainly across the abdominal wall.

The aponeuroses, or flat tendon-like sheets, of these muscles join together to form the linea alba. This is a vertical band of connective tissue that extends from the xiphoid process of the sternum to the pubic symphysis. The anterior muscles are the rectus abdominis and the pyramidalis. They lie on either side of the linea alba.

The rectus abdominis is a long, flat muscle that extends from the sternum and ribs to the pubic bone. Beneath its lower part lies the pyramidalis. This small muscle is variable, so it is not present in everyone. When it is present, it sits in front of the rectus abdominis and attaches to the pubic bone and linea alba.

The posterior abdominal wall lies between the last thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. It includes the quadratus lumborum, psoas major, psoas minor, and iliacus muscles. The quadratus lumborum is deep in the lower back on both sides of the lumbar spine and helps stabilize posture. It extends from the iliac crest to the lower ribs and lumbar vertebrae.

The psoas major is a fusiform, or spindle-shaped, muscle that runs from the sides of the lumbar vertebrae to the lesser trochanter of the femur. It works with the iliacus, a fan-shaped muscle, and together they form the iliopsoas muscle. The psoas minor runs parallel to the psoas major, but it is smaller and thinner. It is present in only about half of the population and, when present, helps flex the pelvis and spine.
