Pressure Pulse Analysis

Pressure Pulse Analysis is a method for measuring and interpreting rapid changes in pressure over time, providing insight into fluid movement and the mechanical behavior of biological or engineered systems. In bioengineering, a pressure transducer converts each transient pressure wave into an electrical signal, while waveform features such as amplitude, timing, rise, decay, and propagation reflect flow, resistance, and compliance. This approach supports cardiovascular monitoring, assessment of vascular stiffness and hemodynamics, and testing of biomedical devices and fluidic systems. By linking pressure patterns to system function, it helps researchers identify abnormalities, optimize designs, and develop more responsive diagnostic technologies.

We describe a method for analysis of the alteration of N-linked glycans through the early life of glycoproteins after their biosynthesis in mammalian cells. This is achieved by pulse-chase analysis of metabolically labeled glycans, enzymatic release from glycoproteins and examination by HPLC.

The laser heated diamond anvil cell combined with synchrotron micro-diffraction techniques allows researchers to explore the nature and properties of new phases of matter at extreme pressure and temperature (PT) conditions. Heterogeneous samples can be characterized in situ under high pressure by 2D mapping and combined powder, single-crystal and multigrain diffraction approaches.

When the heart pumps blood out, arterial elastic fibers play a crucial role in sustaining a high-pressure gradient. They expand to accommodate the received blood and then recoil - a process known as the pulse that can be either manually palpated or electronically quantified. Despite a reduction in its effect with increased distance from the heart, elements of the pulse's systolic and diastolic components persist, observable even at the arteriole level. The pulse serves as a clinical indicator...

The pulse is one of the most fundamental physiological indicators of the body's cardiovascular health. It is the rhythmic expansion and contraction of the arterial walls in response to the pressure generated by the heart's pumping action. Pulse Rate and its Significance Pulse rate, often measured in beats per minute (bpm), reflects the heart rate (HR), which is influenced by numerous factors such as stress, physical activity, and hormonal changes. A normal resting adult pulse rate falls between...
