Cd31 Ve-cadherin Cd105

CD31, VE-cadherin, and CD105 are endothelial-associated proteins used to identify and characterize blood vessels, making them important markers in cancer research. CD31 supports cell adhesion and endothelial cell interactions, VE-cadherin maintains endothelial junctions and vascular integrity, and CD105 functions as a co-receptor in transforming growth factor-β signaling during vascular remodeling. Examining their expression in tumor tissue helps distinguish blood vessels, assess angiogenesis, and evaluate changes in the tumor microenvironment. Together, these markers support immunostaining, endothelial profiling, and studies of tumor vascularization, including investigations of antiangiogenic therapies and mechanisms that influence cancer progression.

Structure of Cadherins

The cadherins were one of the first cell adhesion molecules discovered; the term “cadherins” is based on their calcium-dependent adhering properties. The first cadherins discovered on the epithelial, neuronal, and placental cells were named E-cadherin, P-cadherin, and N-cadherin, respectively. These classical cadherins share sequence and structural similarities. Other cadherins, including those involved in cell signaling, are grouped into non-classical cadherins. This diversity of cadherins...

Purification of CD31+ Endothelial Precursor Cells Using Magnetic-Activated Cell Sorting

2025

This video demonstrates a technique for purifying CD31+ endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) from a culture using magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS). The cell suspension is treated with a fluorophore-conjugated antibody that binds to CD31 on the EPCs. Completing the labeling of CD31+ EPCs involves adding an antibody complex, which binds to the fluorophores, and a polymer-coated magnetic nanoparticle, which binds to the antibody complex. The labeled cells are then purified using a magnetic...

Cadherins in Tissue Organization

The cadherins are a superfamily of cell adhesion molecules comprising over 180 variants, with specific tissues expressing a particular combination of cadherin types. Cadherins generally exhibit homophilic binding; i.e., cadherins on one cell bind to cadherins of the same or closely related type on another cell. Thus, cells of the same type have a specific affinity to bind to each other and sort themselves into clusters to form tissues. Cell Sorting During Development Cell sorting plays an...

Isolation, Expansion, and Adipogenic Induction of CD34+CD31+ Endothelial Cells from Human Omental and Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue

The differentiation of white and beige adipocytes from adipose tissue vascular progenitors bears potential for metabolic improvement in obesity. We describe protocols for a CD34+CD31+ endothelial cell isolation from human fat and for a subsequent in vitro expansion and differentiation into white and beige adipocytes. Several downstream applications are discussed.
