Portable Digital Ph Meter

A portable digital pH meter is a compact instrument that measures the acidity or alkalinity of a liquid and converts the result into a numerical pH reading. It operates through an electrochemical probe, typically combining a pH-sensitive glass electrode with a reference electrode: the potential difference between them changes with hydrogen-ion activity and is processed by electronic circuitry. Before use, the probe is commonly calibrated with standard buffer solutions, while temperature compensation improves measurement consistency under changing conditions. Its compact design supports rapid testing in laboratories, water-quality monitoring, industrial process control, and field engineering, where immediate pH data can guide material selection, process adjustment, and quality assessment.

Source: Laboratory of Dr. Zhongqi He - United States Department of Agriculture Acids and bases are substances capable of donating protons (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH-), respectively. They are two extremes that describe chemicals. Mixing acids and bases can cancel out or neutralize their extreme effects. A substance that is neither acidic nor basic is neutral. The values of proton concentration ([H+]) for most solutions are inconveniently small and difficult to compare so that a more practical...

The European Commission has developed a Real-Driving Emissions (RDE) test procedure to verify pollutant emissions during real-world vehicle operation using the Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS). This paper presents the experimental procedures required by the newly-adopted RDE test.

Measuring Engagement of Spectators of Social Digital Games

2021

We propose a methodology that enables measuring engagement of spectators in a social digital game combining physiological and self-reported data. As this digital game involves a group of freely moving people, the experience is filmed using a synchronizing technique that links physiological data with events in the game.
