Papillary Exposure

Papillary exposure is a clinical or surgical technique used to reveal a papilla, a small nipple-like tissue projection, for direct examination or intervention. It works by carefully retracting, elevating, or incising surrounding tissue to improve access while limiting injury to the papilla, its vascular supply, and adjacent structures. This controlled exposure can support visual assessment, biopsy, excision, repair, or other site-specific procedures, depending on the organ involved. Accurate technique helps clinicians obtain adequate visualization, reduce unnecessary tissue trauma, and preserve functional or cosmetic outcomes during diagnosis and treatment.

Papillary Dermis

Dermis The dermis might be considered the "core" of the integumentary system, as distinct from the epidermis and hypodermis. It contains blood and lymph vessels, nerves, and other structures, such as hair follicles and sweat glands. The dermis is made of two layers of connective tissue that comprise an interconnected mesh of elastin and collagenous fibers, produced by fibroblasts. Papillary Layer The papillary layer is made of loose, areolar connective tissue, which means the collagen and...

Robotic Duodenum-preserving Total Pancreatic Head Resection for Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms

This protocol presents robotic duodenum-preserving total pancreatic head resection (R-DPPHRt) for intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs). A video demonstrates the technique in a patient with main duct-IPMN, highlighting its feasibility as a minimally invasive, organ-preserving alternative to pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Developing a Salivary Antibody Multiplex Immunoassay to Measure Human Exposure to Environmental Pathogens

In the current climate of scarce resources, new technologies are emerging that allow researchers to conduct studies cheaper, faster and with more precision. Here we describe the development of a bead-based salivary antibody multiplex immunoassay to measure human exposure to multiple environmental pathogens simultaneously.

A whole-body nanoparticle aerosol inhalation exposure facility was constructed for nano-sized titanium dioxide (TiO2) inhalation toxicology studies. This system provides nano-TiO2 aerosol test atmospheres that have: 1) a steady mass concentration; 2) a homogenous composition free of contaminants; and 3) a stable particle size distribution during aerosol generation.
