Manipulation Plate Use

Manipulation plate use refers to preparing and using a specialized dish to hold biological samples during controlled handling, positioning, and observation. In biology, the plate typically supports small droplets of culture or manipulation medium, often separated or covered to maintain hydration and stable conditions while tools transfer, inject, dissect, or examine cells, embryos, or other specimens. This setup provides a defined workspace that reduces sample movement and contamination during delicate procedures. Manipulation plates are therefore important in microscopy, developmental biology, cell culture, and assisted reproductive research, where precise sample handling supports reliable experiments and improves the consistency of downstream analysis.

Source: Mangold, K., H el. al., Murine Neural Plate Targeting by In Utero Nano-Injection (NEPTUNE) at Embryonic Day 7.5. J. Vis. Exp. (2022)This video demonstrates the in-utero nano-injection method for neural plate targeting in an embryonic mouse model. A high-titer lentiviral solution is injected into the amniotic cavity, where it integrates into neural plate cells, enabling stable gene manipulation for neurodevelopmental research and therapeutic applications.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment as a Useful Adjunctive Tool for Pneumonia

Cited by 50 •

2014

Pneumonia is one of the top ten leading causes of death in the U.S. Osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT) may be utilized as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of pneumonia to enhance biomechanical and immune function; and ultimately, to reduce hospital stay, duration of antibiotics, incidence of respiratory failure, and mortality. In this video-article, we will review randomized controlled studies on the use of OMT in pneumonia patients, as well as demonstrate specific hands-on...

Manipulating an Independent Variable through Embodiment

2023

Source: Laboratories of Gary Lewandowski, Dave Strohmetz, and Natalie Ciarocco—Monmouth University In any experiment, the researcher attempts to manipulate participants in one group to have different thoughts, experiences, or feelings than the other groups in the study. Some manipulations are overt, while others can be quite subtle. Embodiment is a growing research area focused on the theory that subtle physical experiences can unconsciously influence a person’s thoughts. For example if a...

GIS manipulation and analysis functions are vital for decision-making and planning. These activities range from data retrieval tasks, such as selecting information based on specific criteria, to advanced analytical techniques that address complex spatial problems. One critical GIS analysis method is overlaying, which combines multiple data layers to examine impacts. For example, overlaying a river-dammed lake boundary with road networks can identify affected infrastructure. Another common...
