Pelvic Anatomy

Pelvic anatomy is the study of the bones, muscles, connective tissues, organs, blood vessels, and nerves that form the pelvis and support structures in the lower trunk. The bony pelvis creates a stable ring, while the pelvic floor muscles and fascia support abdominal and pelvic organs, maintain continence, and contribute to posture and movement. Understanding these relationships helps clinicians interpret pain, childbirth-related injury, urinary or fecal dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, trauma, and disease. Anatomical knowledge also guides physical examination, diagnostic imaging, injections, surgery, and other interventions while helping practitioners avoid injury to nearby neurovascular structures.

The eye is a spherical, hollow structure composed of three tissue layers. The outer layer — the fibrous tunic, comprises the sclera — a white structure — and the cornea, which is transparent. The sclera encompasses some of the ocular surface, most of which is not visible. However, the 'white of the eye' is distinctively visible in humans compared to other species. The cornea, a clear covering at the front of the eye, enables light penetration. The eye's middle layer, the vascular tunic,...
