Thermocouple Installation

Thermocouple installation is the process of positioning and connecting a thermocouple so it can measure temperature accurately in environmental, industrial, or laboratory settings. A thermocouple uses the Seebeck effect: when two dissimilar metals join at a measurement junction and experience a temperature difference from the reference junction, they generate a small voltage that instruments convert into temperature. Proper installation requires selecting compatible materials, placing the sensing junction where representative temperatures can be recorded, protecting it from corrosion or mechanical damage, and establishing reliable electrical connections. In environmental monitoring, correctly installed thermocouples support measurements of air, water, soil, equipment, and other systems, improving data quality and helping detect temperature changes over time.

Installation of Optical Windows in the Brain of Transgenic Mice to Image Neural Activities

2025

This video demonstrates the brain's neural activity recording through an optical window in transgenic mice. The mice express a fluorescent protein that enables the detection of neural activities. A small portion of the skull is carefully removed to install an optical window, and the skull is then covered with black cement to block light before imaging.

Installation Method to Enhance Quality Control for Fiber Reinforced Polymer Spike Anchors

This manuscript presents a method for controlling the quality of installation for spike anchors designed to delay delamination of externally bonded fiber reinforced polymers. The protocol includes the preparation of the drill hole and the insertion process. The most influential parameters on the efficiency of the anchors are discussed.

Cranial Ring Assembly Installation in Mouse Model: A Surgical Procedure to Implant Visualization Window Assembly on Murine Skull for High-resolution Skull Bone Marrow Imaging

Surface renewal is a micrometeorological method that is being used increasingly to determine energy fluxes, but its technical complexity makes it inaccessible to a broad audience. We describe the steps needed to set up and calibrate a surface renewal field station, to acquire and process data, and to correctly interpret results.
