Multi-endoscopic Treatment

Multi-endoscopic treatment is a medical approach that combines two or more endoscopic procedures within a coordinated diagnostic or therapeutic plan, allowing clinicians to address related findings through minimally invasive access. It works by using flexible or rigid endoscopes equipped with cameras and specialized instruments to visualize internal structures, collect tissue, remove lesions, or deliver targeted treatment in sequence or during a shared intervention. In medicine, this strategy can support the management of complex conditions involving multiple organs or anatomical sites. By integrating procedures, it may improve clinical workflow, reduce the need for separate interventions, and provide a more comprehensive assessment and treatment plan.

Source: Wang, L., et.al. Full-Endoscopic Isolation Zone Technique for the Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation. J. Vis. Exp.(2023)This video demonstrates a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure to treat lumbar disc herniation by removing the protruded nucleus pulposus and ruptured annulus fibrosus. The technique decompresses the affected nerve root, alleviates pain, and restores nerve function through targeted tissue resection and radiofrequency modulation.

Here, we present a protocol for the "isolation zone" technique in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) under full-endoscopic spine surgery (FESS), including intervertebral foramen formation, targeted catheterization, nucleus pulposus resection, and annulus fibrosus formation, which together completely block the pain from the nerve conduction pathway.

We describe methods for longitudinal monitoring of the efficacy of therapeutics for the treatment of colonic pathologies in mice using a rigid endoscope. This protocol can be readily used for the characterization of the therapeutic response of an individual tumor in live mice and also for monitoring potential disease relapse.
