Cell Line Characterization

Cell line characterization is the systematic assessment of a cultured cell population’s identity, stability, growth behavior, and functional properties, helping researchers determine whether it is suitable for reliable experiments or manufacturing. It typically combines observations of morphology and growth kinetics with tests for species or tissue origin, genetic features, phenotype, and unwanted contamination, using molecular, biochemical, and imaging methods. In bioengineering, characterization supports the selection and optimization of cells for tissue models, biomaterials research, bioprocessing, and regenerative medicine. Routine assessment can reveal cross-contamination, genetic drift, or loss of function, improving reproducibility, process control, and confidence in engineered biological systems.

This manuscript describes the efficient, non-viral delivery of miR to endothelial cells by a PEI/MNP vector and their magnetization. Thus, in addition to genetic modification, this approach allows for magnetic cell guidance and MRI detectability. The technique can be used to improve the characteristics of therapeutic cell products.

Isolation and Characterization of Dendritic Cells and Macrophages from the Mouse Intestine

Here, we detail a methodology for the rapid isolation of mouse intestinal dendritic cells (DCs) and macrophages. Phenotypic characterization of intestinal DCs and macrophages is performed using multi-color flow cytometric analysis while magnetic bead enrichment followed by cell sorting is used to yield highly pure populations for functional studies.

The method described isolation and characterization of human Dental Pulp Stem Cells (hDPSCs) by using either enzymatic dissociation of pulp (DPSC-ED) or direct outgrowth of stem cells from pulp tissue explants (DPSC-OG). Then followed by in vitro comparative differentiation of both types of hDPSCs into odontoblasts.
