Ion Trap Ms

Ion trap mass spectrometry (Ion Trap MS) is an analytical method that identifies and measures ions according to their mass-to-charge ratios, making it valuable for characterizing complex biological samples. The instrument confines ions within a radiofrequency electric field, then selectively ejects them by changing the trapping conditions; trapped precursor ions can also undergo collision-induced fragmentation for tandem MS and repeated MSn analysis. In immunology and infection research, Ion Trap MS supports peptide and protein identification, post-translational modification analysis, immune mediator characterization, and detection of pathogen-associated molecules. Its sensitivity and flexible structural analysis help clarify host-pathogen interactions and biomolecular changes during disease.

Social Traps

2020

Social traps are negative situations where people get caught in a direction or relationship that later proves to be unpleasant, with no easy way to back out of or avoid. The concept was orignally introduced by John Platt who applied psychology to Garrett Hardin's "Tragedy of the Commons", where in New England herd owners could let their cattle graze in the common ground. This situation seems like a good idea, but an individual could have an advantage. If they owned more cows, the larger...
