Aerobic Training Intensity

Aerobic training intensity is the level of effort required during sustained exercise, influencing how the cardiovascular and respiratory systems meet the body's energy demands. It is commonly characterized by measures such as heart rate, oxygen consumption, perceived exertion, or the talk test, with increasing intensity raising oxygen uptake and, beyond key thresholds, lactate accumulation. In medicine, assessing and prescribing aerobic training intensity helps tailor exercise programs to fitness, health status, and rehabilitation goals. Appropriate intensity can improve cardiorespiratory fitness, functional capacity, and disease management while reducing risks associated with excessive or insufficient exertion.

2017

The effect of short-term resistance training on elderly people was investigated through the simultaneous use of several methods. Compared to a control group, many improvements were seen, including on muscle aerobic capacity, glucose tolerance, strength, power, and muscle quality (i.e., protein involved in cell signaling and muscle fiber type composition).

Activating Autophagy by Aerobic Exercise in Mice

Autophagy activation is beneficial in the prevention of a number of diseases. One of the physiological approaches to induce autophagy in vivo is physical exercise. Here we show how to activate autophagy by aerobic exercise and measure autophagy levels in mice.

Here, we present protocols of high-intensity interval and moderate-intensity continuous exercise to observe the response of circulating cardiac troponin T (cTnT) concentration to acute exercise over 10 days. The information may assist with clinical interpretations of post-exercise cTnT elevation and guide the prescription of exercise.

Short session (≤10 min) high intensity interval training (HIIT) is emerging as an alternative to longer exercise modalities, yet the shorter variants are rarely modeled in animal studies. Here, we describe a 10 min, 3 day a week, uphill treadmill HIIT protocol that enhances physical performance in male and female aged mice.
