P-nitroaniline

P-Nitroaniline is an aromatic amine containing nitro and amino groups in para positions on a benzene ring, making it a useful compound for studying how substituents influence chemical properties. The amino group donates electron density while the nitro group withdraws it, creating a conjugated system that contributes to the compound’s yellow color and affects its basicity and spectroscopic behavior. In chemistry, p-nitroaniline serves as an intermediate in the preparation of dyes, pigments, and other organic compounds. Its distinct absorption properties also support ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, reaction monitoring, and investigations of electronic effects in aromatic molecules.

A technique for laboratory estimation of net trophic transfer efficiency of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners to piscivorous fish from their prey is presented. To maximize applicability of the laboratory results to the field, the piscivorous fish should be fed prey fish that are typically eaten in the field.
