Middle Ear Surgery

Middle ear surgery comprises procedures that repair or restore structures behind the eardrum, helping treat hearing loss, chronic infection, and related disorders. Depending on the condition, surgeons may remove diseased tissue, repair the tympanic membrane, reconstruct or replace the ossicles, or improve ventilation through the Eustachian tube; these interventions restore sound transmission or control inflammation and infection. Common procedures include tympanoplasty, ossiculoplasty, and mastoidectomy, each selected according to the anatomy and cause of disease. By protecting the inner ear while improving middle ear function, surgery can reduce complications and support hearing rehabilitation.
