Remyelination Evaluation

Remyelination evaluation is the assessment of how effectively damaged myelin sheaths are restored around nerve fibers, an important measure of repair in neurological disease and therapy development. It combines structural and functional approaches, such as histological staining, magnetic resonance imaging, electron microscopy, and tests of nerve conduction, to detect new myelin and determine whether it improves axonal signaling. In medicine, these evaluations help characterize recovery after demyelinating injury, compare candidate treatments, and distinguish true myelin repair from temporary changes in inflammation or symptoms. Reliable assessment supports research on multiple sclerosis and other disorders involving myelin loss, while guiding the development of regenerative therapies.

Experimental Demyelination and Remyelination of Murine Spinal Cord by Focal Injection of Lysolecithin

2015

Demyelinating diseases can be modeled in animals by focal application of lysolecithin into the CNS. A single injection of lysolecithin into mouse spinal cord produces a lesion that spontaneously repairs over time. The goal is to study factors involved in de- and remyelination, and to test agents for enhancing repair.

Demyelination and Remyelination of Mouse Spinal Cord Neurons

2025

This video demonstrates the method for inducing demyelination in mouse spinal cord neurons using lysolecithin injections, followed by remyelination through the migration and differentiation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells. The process impairs and then gradually restores neuronal signal transmission.

Osmotic Pump-based Drug-delivery for In Vivo Remyelination Research on the Central Nervous System

2021

Demyelination takes place in multiple central nervous system diseases. A reliable in vivo drug delivery technique is necessary for remyelinating drug testing. This protocol describes an osmotic pump-based method that allows long-term drug delivery directly into the brain parenchyma and improves the drug bioavailability, with broad application in remyelination research.

Evaluation of 3D Spheroids for AAV Transduction Studies

2026

Three-dimensional spheroid culture systems improve upon conventional 2D models for AAV gene therapy development. This methodology enables sensitive detection of AAV transduction at low doses, enhanced physiological relevance, and robust long-term monitoring. The platform supports potency assessment, high-throughput screening, and vector optimization across diverse cell lines and AAV serotypes.

Evaluating the Accuracy of Snap Judgments

2023

Source: Diego Reinero & Jay Van Bavel—New York University Social psychologists have long been interested in the way people form impressions of others. Much of this work has focused on the errors people make in judging others, such as the exaggerated influence of central traits (such as "warm" and "cold"), the insufficient weight given to the context in which others' behavior takes place, and the tendency for people to make judgments that conform to their initial expectations about another.
