Surgical Recovery

Surgical recovery is the process through which the body restores function and health after an operation, making it central to safe, effective medical care. It involves coordinated wound healing, inflammation control, tissue repair, pain management, and gradual return of mobility, while clinicians monitor vital signs, nutrition, medication effects, and complications such as infection or bleeding. Recovery protocols, including enhanced recovery after surgery, support earlier movement, appropriate feeding, and individualized rehabilitation when clinically suitable. Understanding these processes helps healthcare teams reduce complications, shorten hospital stays, improve patient comfort, and guide follow-up care across procedures ranging from minimally invasive operations to major surgery.

Here we demonstrate the newly developed I•Cryo kit for mouse sperm cryopreservation. Two-cell stage embryo development with frozen-thawed sperm was improved consistently in 5 mouse strains with the use of this kit. Over a 1.5 year period, 49 genetically modified mouse lines were archived by sperm cryopreservation with the I•Cryo kit and later successfully recovered by IVF.
