Cell-free Dna Quantification

Cell-free DNA quantification is the measurement of DNA fragments that circulate outside intact cells, providing a noninvasive window into tissue injury, immune activity, and infection. The process typically involves isolating DNA from plasma, serum, or another biological fluid, then measuring it with fluorescence-based assays or sequence-specific amplification such as quantitative PCR or digital PCR. In immunology and infection research, total or pathogen-specific cell-free DNA can help assess microbial presence, host damage, and changes over time. These measurements support biomarker development, treatment monitoring, and investigation of how infections and immune responses alter extracellular nucleic acids.
