Nsaid Use

NSAID use refers to the therapeutic application of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve pain, reduce fever, and control inflammation without corticosteroids. These medicines primarily inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes, COX-1 and COX-2, decreasing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby reducing inflammatory signaling, pain sensitization, and elevated body temperature. In pharmacology, NSAIDs are used for conditions such as musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, and acute injuries. Their benefits must be balanced against risks including gastrointestinal irritation or bleeding, impaired kidney function, and cardiovascular effects, making drug selection, dosing, and treatment duration important considerations.

Focal demyelination is induced in the optic nerve using lysolecithin microinjection. Visual evoked potentials are recorded via skull electrodes implanted over the visual cortex to examine the signal conduction along the visual pathway in vivo. This protocol details the surgical procedures underlying electrode implantation and optic nerve microinjection.

Three-dimensional Angiogenesis Assay System using Co-culture Spheroids Formed by Endothelial Colony Forming Cells and Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Three-dimensional co-culture spheroid angiogenesis assay system is designed to mimic the physiologic angiogenesis. Co-culture spheroids are formed by two human vascular cell precursors, ECFCs and MSCs, and embedded in collagen gel. The new system is effective for evaluating angiogenic modulators, and provides more relevant information to the in vivo study.
