Lamp Sensitivity

Lamp sensitivity describes how strongly a lamp’s light output responds to changes in operating or environmental conditions, making it important for reliable illumination and optical measurement. Temperature, supply voltage, operating time, and component aging can alter luminous intensity, spectral distribution, and electrical efficiency, so sensitivity is assessed through controlled calibration and repeated measurements. In environmental research, understanding these responses supports accurate light monitoring, standardized laboratory experiments, and energy-efficient lighting design. It also helps researchers distinguish genuine changes in measured light conditions from variation caused by the lamp itself, improving data quality in studies of exposure, ecosystems, and environmental change.

Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

2023

Source: Tamara M. Powers, Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M University Today's modern world requires the use of a large amount of energy. While we harness energy from fossil fuels such as coal and oil, these sources are nonrenewable and thus the supply is limited. To maintain our global lifestyle, we must extract energy from renewable sources. The most promising renewable source, in terms of abundance, is the sun, which provides us with more than enough solar energy to fully fuel our...

Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) Assays for the Species-specific Detection of Eimeria that Infect Chickens

2015

Diagnosis of Eimeria infection in chickens remains demanding. Parasite morphology- and host pathology-led approaches are commonly inconclusive, while molecular approaches based on PCR have proven demanding in cost and expertise. The aim of this protocol is to establish loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) as a straightforward molecular diagnostic for eimerian infection.

Minimum Erythematous Dose Assay: A Method for Measuring UV Sensitivity in Mouse Models

2023

This video describes a method to measure UV sensitivity in a humanized mouse model—a mouse model that mimics human skin. We determine the minimal erythematous dose (MED) of UV radiation that can cause erythema or edema on the skin. The method can help to find out the efficacy of drugs used to reduce UV sensitivity.

This paper reports the protocol for a rapid identification assay for Bemisia tabaci based on loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technology. The protocol requires minimal laboratory training and can, therefore, be implemented on-site at points of entry for plant imports such as seaports and airports.
