Human Brain Tumor Cells

Human brain tumor cells are abnormal cells that form tumors within the brain or related central nervous system tissues, making them important for understanding disease progression and neurological function. Genetic and epigenetic changes can disrupt normal controls on cell growth, survival, and differentiation, while interactions with surrounding neurons, glial cells, blood vessels, and immune cells influence tumor behavior. Studying these cells in patient samples, cultures, and experimental models helps researchers investigate tumor biology, identify biomarkers, evaluate treatments, and understand how tumors affect neural circuits. This work supports more precise diagnosis and the development of therapies for aggressive or treatment-resistant brain cancers.

Tumor Treating Fields Application in Human Brain Tumor Models: A Non-invasive Technique to Deliver Alternating Electric Fields to Human Brain for Treating Brain Tumor

2023

This video demonstrates the application of Tumor Treating Fields or TTFields in human brain tumor models. This non-invasive technique delivers low-intensity alternating electric fields directly to the brain, resulting in inhibition of cell division and subsequent apoptosis.

Delivering Effector T Lymphocytes into Mice Carrying Human Brain Tumors

2025

This video demonstrates a stereotaxic injection technique for administering human effector T lymphocytes into a murine model carrying a human brain tumor. Upon positioning a tumor-bearing anesthetized mouse on a stereotactic frame and creating a burr hole at the injection location on the skull, effector T lymphocytes are injected at the tumor site.

Isolating Tumor-Infiltrating Immune Cells from a Murine Brain

We present a simple agarose overlay platform to grow 3D multicellular spheroids using neuroendocrine cancer cell lines. This method provides a very convenient way to examine the effect of therapeutic drugs on the neuroendocrine tumor cells. It could also help us establish human neuroendocrine tumor spheroids for cancer therapy.
