Mohd. Farooq Shaikh

Dr. Mohd. Farooq Shaikh is a Senior Lecturer Monash University Malaysia. He is leading the neuropharmacology research strength at Monash University Malaysia. His group is working interested in experimental neurology with the main focus on epilepsy and drug discovery of anticonvulsants from diverse sources. His research applies a multifaceted approach combining in-silico, in-vitro and in-vivo techniques. Currently, his team is working on epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease-related cognitive dysfunctions and uncovering the role of inflammation as a common biomarker in both the conditions. His team has won national awards like Pecipta and ITEX medals for innovation in research. He is a recipient of Monash's PVC award for Excellence in Research in the early career category and Malaysian Society of Neuroscience (MSN)-best publication award in 2017. He is also a recipient of IBRO Young Scientist Training Award in 2012 and IBRO-APRC fellowship in 2012.
