Multi-beam Irradiation

Multi-beam irradiation is an engineering approach that exposes a target to two or more radiation beams, coordinating their paths to control how energy is delivered across a surface or volume. By adjusting beam angles, intensity, timing, and overlap, the system can shape the irradiation field, improve coverage, and manage dose distribution while limiting untreated regions or excessive exposure. This method supports precision processing, testing, and modification of materials and components in situations where a single beam cannot provide the required geometry or uniformity. Its design principles are relevant to advanced manufacturing, radiation-based inspection, and other applications requiring controlled energy deposition.

An effective method for grafting tissue of defined and consistent size between planaria is described. Also included is a description of how the immobilization technique used for transplantation can be adapted, in conjunction with lead shields, for the partial irradiation of live animals.

UV Irradiation: A Method to Integrate Extrachromosomal Arrays

2023

Microinjection of transgenes usually results in C. elegans strains with large extrachromosomal arrays, which result in variable expression and transmission of the transgene. UV Irradiation can induce chromosomal integration of the array and more stable transgene transmission.

Beams

Beams are integral components of structural engineering and construction, designed to support loads applied at various points along their length. These long, straight members can be classified based on geometry, cross-section, support type, and equilibrium condition. Based on geometry, beams can be straight, tapered, or curved. Straight beams are the most common type and have a constant cross-section throughout their length. Tapered beams, on the other hand, have a varying cross-section along...
