Preoperative Ct Planning

Preoperative CT planning is the use of computed tomography images to evaluate anatomy and guide decisions before an operation. CT acquires cross-sectional X-ray measurements and reconstructs them into detailed images, which may be reviewed in multiple planes or processed into three-dimensional models to assess spatial relationships, pathology, and structures relevant to surgical access. In medicine, this planning supports procedure selection, implant or instrument positioning, operative navigation, and anticipation of anatomical challenges. By converting patient-specific imaging into a practical surgical roadmap, preoperative CT planning can improve communication among clinical teams and contribute to safer, more precise, and more efficient care.

Preoperational Thought IV: Numbers

2026

Piaget’s preoperational stage, from about ages 2 to 7, is characterized by rapid growth in symbolic thinking. Children increasingly use words, images, and objects to represent ideas, although their reasoning remains largely intuitive. During this period, number sense develops from memorized counting toward an understanding of quantity and basic arithmetic.Counting and CardinalityChildren younger than age 3 may recite number words without fully understanding their numerical meaning. During the...

Source: Peiman Shahbeigi-Roodposhti and Sina Shahbazmohamadi, Biomedical Engineering Department, University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut It's a little-known fact that the discovery and (inadvertent) use of X-rays garnered the first ever Nobel Prize in Physics. The famous X-ray image of Dr. Röntgen's wife's hand from 1895 that sent shock waves through the scientific community looks like most modern day 2D medical X-ray images. Though it is not the newest technology, X-ray absorption...
