Therapeutic Performance Tracking

Therapeutic Performance Tracking is the systematic monitoring of treatment effects and functional outcomes over time. In bioengineering, it combines repeated measurements from sensors, imaging, physiological assays, or patient-reported assessments with baseline data to quantify response, detect changes, and distinguish therapeutic benefit from variability or adverse effects. Tracking can guide dose adjustment, device refinement, rehabilitation planning, and personalized treatment decisions, while longitudinal performance data help researchers evaluate safety, durability, and mechanisms of action in engineered therapies, implants, prostheses, and digital health systems.

Open globe eye injuries may go untreated for multiple days in rural or military-relevant scenarios, resulting in blindness. Therapeutics are needed to minimize loss of vision. Here, we detail an organ culture open globe injury model. With this model, potential therapeutics for stabilizing these injuries can be properly evaluated.

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University In a staggeringly complex and engaging world, it is crucial to selectively process some stimuli at the expense of others. Experimental psychologists call this ability attention. Specifically, visual attention refers to the ability to selectively process aspects of a visual scene. Many paradigms used to study visual attention involve brief, punctuated, and repeated trials. However, everyday situations often place sustained demands...

Eye Tracking in Cognitive Experiments

Eye tracking as the name suggests involves tracking of eye-movements. It is a non-invasive, sensitive tool that quantifies and measures eye-movements to describe an individuals' cognitive state. An eye-movement between two fixation points is called a saccade, which is one of the fastest motor movements in our body. By observing the profiles of these eye movements, scientists can better understand neural deficits in patients with cognitive impairments. In this video, we will first look at an...
