Live-cell Video

Live-cell video is a time-lapse imaging approach that records living cells as they change over time, preserving information that fixed-cell snapshots cannot provide. Using microscopy equipped with a camera and environmental control for temperature, carbon dioxide, humidity, and culture conditions, researchers capture sequential images and analyze cell morphology, division, migration, death, and interactions. In cancer research, this method helps characterize tumor-cell behavior, follow invasion and metastasis-related movement, measure responses to anticancer treatments, and observe interactions with immune or stromal cells. These dynamic measurements can reveal transient events and support more precise models of tumor progression and therapeutic response.

Live Cell Imaging of Mitosis

2023

Mitosis is a form of cell division in which a cell’s genetic material is divided equally between two daughter cells. Mitosis can be broken down into six phases, during each of which the cell’s components, such as its chromosomes, show visually distinct characteristics. Advances in fluorescence live cell imaging have allowed scientists to study this process in great detail, providing important insights into the biological control of this process and how it might go wrong in diseases such as...
