Tungsten Lamp

Tungsten lamps are incandescent light sources that produce radiation by heating a tungsten filament, making them important reference and illumination tools in chemical analysis. An electric current raises the filament to a high temperature, where thermal emission generates a continuous spectrum dominated by visible and near-infrared wavelengths; the bulb’s vacuum or inert gas limits oxidation, while specialized halogen designs use a reversible tungsten-halogen cycle to reduce filament loss. In chemistry, tungsten lamps provide broadband radiation for visible spectrophotometers, colorimetric measurements, and instrument alignment. Their predictable output also supports calibration and quantitative absorbance measurements, particularly in the visible and near-infrared regions.

2015

Diagnosis of Eimeria infection in chickens remains demanding. Parasite morphology- and host pathology-led approaches are commonly inconclusive, while molecular approaches based on PCR have proven demanding in cost and expertise. The aim of this protocol is to establish loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) as a straightforward molecular diagnostic for eimerian infection.

2018

This paper reports the protocol for a rapid identification assay for Bemisia tabaci based on loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technology. The protocol requires minimal laboratory training and can, therefore, be implemented on-site at points of entry for plant imports such as seaports and airports.

We present an RT-LAMP assay for the detection of TiLV in tilapia fish using simple instruments over a relatively short period of time compared to conventional RT-PCR techniques. This protocol may help control the epidemic spread of TiLVD, especially in developing countries.

Multimodal Imaging and Spectroscopy Fiber-bundle Microendoscopy Platform for Non-invasive, In Vivo Tissue Analysis

2016

The assembly and use of a multimodal microendoscope is described which can co-register superficial tissue image data with tissue physiological parameters including hemoglobin concentration, melanin concentration, and oxygen saturation. This technique can be useful for evaluating tissue structure and perfusion, and can be optimized for individual needs of the investigator.
