Network Connectivity

Network connectivity describes how nodes within a system are linked and how effectively matter, energy, organisms, or information can move among them. In environmental science, connections among habitats, populations, waterways, and ecological communities form pathways that support dispersal, gene flow, nutrient cycling, and resilience, while barriers such as roads, dams, or habitat loss can interrupt these processes. Researchers assess connectivity using spatial maps, movement data, and network analysis to identify corridors, isolated areas, and vulnerable links. This information guides conservation planning, restoration, landscape management, and evaluation of how environmental change may alter ecosystem function.

This protocol describes the complementary neuroimaging techniques of resting state structural connectivity, task-induced deactivation, and structural connectivity analyses to examine the default network in post-traumatic stress disorder. The use of synergistic methods could potentially lead to improved diagnostics and assessments of severity, outcome, and other relevant clinical factors.

Design, Surface Treatment, Cellular Plating, and Culturing of Modular Neuronal Networks Composed of Functionally Inter-connected Circuits

This manuscript describes a protocol to grow in vitro modular networks consisting of spatially confined, functionally inter-connected neuronal circuits. A polymeric mask is used to pattern a protein layer to promote cellular adhesion over the culturing substrate. Plated neurons grow on coated areas establishing spontaneous connections and exhibiting electrophysiological activity.

Protein Networks

An organism can have thousands of different proteins, and these proteins must cooperate to ensure the health of an organism. Proteins bind to other proteins and form complexes to carry out their functions. Many proteins interact with multiple other proteins creating a complex network of protein interactions. These interactions can be represented through maps depicting protein-protein interaction networks, represented as nodes and edges. Nodes are circles that are representative of a protein,...
