Neuroimmunology Research

Neuroimmunology research examines how the nervous and immune systems communicate and influence one another in health and disease. It focuses on mechanisms such as cytokine signaling, microglial activation, leukocyte trafficking across the blood-brain barrier, and immune responses to pathogens that can alter neural function. In immunology and infection research, these interactions help explain how viruses, bacteria, and inflammatory processes affect the brain and spinal cord, while also revealing how neural signals regulate immunity. Findings support the development of biomarkers, vaccines, anti-inflammatory strategies, and treatments for infection-associated neurological disorders and other diseases involving neuroimmune dysfunction.
