Costoclavicular Brace Test

Costoclavicular Brace Test is a clinical provocative maneuver used to assess possible compression of neurovascular structures between the clavicle and first rib, especially in suspected thoracic outlet syndrome. During the maneuver, the patient retracts and depresses the shoulders, often with the chest held forward, which reduces the costoclavicular space and may stress the brachial plexus or subclavian vessels. A positive response may include reproduced pain, paresthesia, weakness, or a reduced radial pulse, but findings require cautious interpretation because vascular changes can occur in asymptomatic people. The test supports bedside assessment and helps guide further vascular, neurologic, or imaging evaluation rather than serving as a standalone diagnosis.

A protocol is described that uses Illumina's Infinium assays to perform large-scale genotyping. These assays can reliably genotype millions of SNPs across hundreds of individual DNA samples in three days. Once generated, these genotypes can be used to check for associations with a variety of different diseases or phenotypes.
