Primary Teeth Discoloration

Primary teeth discoloration is a change in the color or translucency of deciduous teeth and may signal external staining, changes within the tooth, or an underlying dental or medical condition. Discoloration develops when pigments accumulate on the enamel surface, or when injury, developmental changes, or disease alter dentin, enamel, or the pulp, sometimes producing localized gray, yellow, brown, or white changes. In medicine and dentistry, evaluating the timing, distribution, appearance, and associated symptoms helps distinguish harmless staining from caries, trauma, enamel defects, or infection. Accurate assessment supports appropriate monitoring, preventive care, restorative treatment, and referral when systemic causes require investigation.

The formation of teeth, also known as odontogenesis, is a complex process that begins in utero, around the sixth week of embryonic development. There are three stages to this process: the bud stage, the cap stage, and the bell stage. In the bud stage, the tooth germ (an aggregation of cells) starts to form in the developing jawbone. During the cap stage, the tooth germ differentiates into enamel organ, dental papilla, and dental sac, which will later develop into the tooth's enamel, dentin and...

Isolation of Gingival Immune Cell Network from Murine Teeth Blocks

This video demonstrates the isolation procedure of the gingival immune cell network from a mouse model. The enzymatic digestion releases the gingival tissue from the attached teeth and bone, which is further mechanically digested, releasing immune cells from the gingiva. The isolated cells are ready for immunological experiments.

The method described isolation and characterization of human Dental Pulp Stem Cells (hDPSCs) by using either enzymatic dissociation of pulp (DPSC-ED) or direct outgrowth of stem cells from pulp tissue explants (DPSC-OG). Then followed by in vitro comparative differentiation of both types of hDPSCs into odontoblasts.

The primary cilium is fundamentally important in neural progenitor cell proliferation, neuronal differentiation, and adult neuronal function. Here, we describe a method to study ciliogenesis and the trafficking of signaling proteins to cilia in neural stem/progenitor cells and differentiated neurons using primary neurosphere cultures.
