Evoked Response Data

Evoked response data are measurements of neural activity recorded after a defined sensory, motor, or cognitive stimulus, revealing how the nervous system responds over time. In neuroscience, repeated stimulus presentations are synchronized with recordings such as electroencephalography, allowing time-locked signals to be averaged and separated from ongoing background activity; response amplitude and latency provide information about neural processing. Researchers use evoked response data to characterize sensory pathways, study attention and perception, compare brain responses across conditions, and assess changes associated with neurological disorders. These data support both basic investigations of brain function and objective evaluations of neural communication.

2019

Brainstem evoked response audiometry is an important tool in clinical neurophysiology. Nowadays, brainstem evoked response audiometry is also applied in the basic science and preclinical studies involving both pharmacological and genetic animal models. Here we provide a detailed description of how auditory brainstem responses can be successfully recorded and analyzed in mice.

Recording Electrically-Evoked Auditory Brainstem Responses in a Deafened Mouse

Zebrafish are an excellent model to study muscle function and disease. During early embryogenesis zebrafish begin regular muscle contractions producing rhythmic swimming behavior, which is altered when the muscle is disrupted. Here we describe a touch-evoked response and locomotion assay to examine swimming performance as a measure of muscle function.

Light-Evoked Postsynaptic Responses in Neurons of Mouse Retinal Slices

2025

This video demonstrates the recording of light-evoked post-synaptic responses in a dark-adapted mouse retinal tissue slice preparation. The retinal slice is placed in a recording chamber, and a recording pipette is used to establish electrical continuity with a retinal ganglion cell. Light pulses are applied to generate excitatory post-synaptic potentials in the ganglion cells, which are recorded by the pipette.
