Continuous Heart Function Monitoring

Continuous heart function monitoring is the ongoing measurement of cardiac activity to track heart rate, rhythm, and related physiological changes over time. It typically uses electrocardiography, bedside telemetry, or wearable sensors that detect electrical signals and transmit repeated or real-time measurements for analysis. Continuous observation can reveal transient arrhythmias, abnormal rate patterns, or changes that intermittent examinations may miss, supporting early clinical response in hospital and outpatient settings. In medicine, these data guide diagnosis, treatment adjustment, recovery assessment, and risk management, while remote monitoring can extend cardiac surveillance beyond the clinic.

Continuity of a Function

2025

A function is continuous at a point a if three conditions are met: the function is defined at a, the limit of the function as x approaches a exists, and this limit equals the function’s value. Mathematically, this is written asThis definition ensures the graph of the function does not exhibit any breaks, holes, or jumps at that point. Discontinuities occur when any of these conditions fail. A removable discontinuity exists when the two-sided limit exists but the function is either undefined or...

Long-Term Continuous Electroencephalography Monitoring in a Rodent Pup

2025

The video demonstrates long-term continuous electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring in rodent pups using a wireless transmitter system. The transmitter contains two recording electrodes and one reference electrode extending to the brain's surface. Upon placing the pup in a recording chamber, EEG can be continuously monitored throughout the pup's development into adulthood.

Properties of Continuous Functions

Continuous functions exhibit smooth, uninterrupted behavior, and combining them through standard operations retains this continuity. If f and g are continuous at a point a, then the functions f+g, f-g, cf (where c is a constant), fg, and fg (provided g(a)a) are also continuous at a. This allows the construction of complex functions from simpler continuous parts without losing smoothness.Polynomials, which are expressions formed by sums of powers of x with constant coefficients, are continuous...

Ex Situ Heart Perfusion: A Technique to Preserve Isolated Porcine Heart Function
