Resonatory Subsystem Measurement

Resonatory subsystem measurement is the assessment of how the vocal tract shapes and amplifies sound produced by the vocal folds, an important component of clinical voice and speech evaluation. It examines acoustic and perceptual characteristics of resonance, including the balance between oral and nasal sound created when the velopharyngeal port regulates airflow between the mouth and nose. In medicine, these measurements help identify hypernasality, hyponasality, and other resonance disorders associated with cleft palate, neurological disease, structural abnormalities, or impaired motor control. Clinicians can use the results to support diagnosis, guide speech or surgical intervention, and monitor treatment outcomes.

The Lewis structure of a nitrite anion (NO2−) may actually be drawn in two different ways, distinguished by the locations of the N-O and N=O bonds. If nitrite ions do indeed contain a single and a double bond, the two bond lengths are expected to be different. A double bond between two atoms is shorter (and stronger) than a single bond between the same two atoms. However, experiments show that both N–O bonds in NO2− have the same strength and length, and are identical in all other...

Multianimal Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Tumor Measurements in Pancreatic Cancer Mouse Models

2026

This protocol uses a multichamber bed for parallel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of up to four animals to detect pancreatic adenocarcinoma tumors in genetically engineered mouse models. This multianimal MRI protocol is fast and cost-effective for detecting and measuring tumors, facilitating animal selection for preclinical studies and longitudinal monitoring of tumor growth.
