Video Acquisition Protocol

A Video Acquisition Protocol is a standardized procedure for recording visual information with consistent timing, image quality, and experimental conditions, enabling reliable analysis of dynamic events. In neuroscience, it typically coordinates camera settings, illumination, field of view, spatial calibration, and frame timing, often synchronizing video frames with behavioral stimuli or neural recordings. These controls allow researchers to quantify movement, posture, facial responses, or interactions with experimental equipment while reducing measurement variability. Well-designed video acquisition supports behavioral phenotyping, neural circuit studies, and multimodal experiments, providing reproducible visual data for manual scoring or automated tracking and linking observed behavior to underlying brain activity.

2017

The loss of honey bee colonies presents a challenge to crop pollination services. Current pollinator protection practices warrant an alternative approach to minimize the contact of honey bees to harmful pesticides using repellent chemistries. Here, we provide detailed methods for a visual tracking protocol to screen deterrents for bees.
