Dna Coated Gold Particles

DNA-coated gold particles are gold microparticles carrying DNA for delivery into cells, providing a physical method for introducing genetic material into difficult-to-transfect tissues. In biolistic delivery, DNA is adsorbed or precipitated onto the particle surface, and a burst of gas accelerates the particles into tissue, where they enter cells and release DNA for gene expression. In neuroscience, this approach can transfect neurons in brain slices or living tissue, enabling fluorescent labeling, morphological reconstruction, and localized studies of gene function and neural circuits. Its ability to deliver DNA to selected regions makes it useful for investigating neuronal connectivity and cellular responses while avoiding some limitations of viral methods.

Subatomic Particles

2020

Dalton was only partially correct about the particles that make up matter. All matter is composed of atoms, and atoms are composed of three smaller subatomic particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons. These three particles account for the mass and the charge of an atom. The Discovery of the Electron The first clue about the subatomic structure came at the end of the 19th century when J.J. Thomson discovered the electron using a cathode ray tube. This apparatus consisted of a sealed glass...
