Antigen Preserve

Antigen preservation is the protection of an antigen’s recognizable molecular structure so it remains detectable and capable of binding specific antibodies after collection, processing, or storage. In biology, preservation depends on limiting degradation and structural alteration through controlled conditions such as appropriate fixation, temperature, pH, and storage duration; these factors help maintain epitopes, the regions antibodies recognize. Reliable antigen preservation supports immunohistochemistry, immunoassays, flow cytometry, and related diagnostic and research methods by improving signal quality and reproducibility. It is particularly important when samples must be transported, archived, or compared across experiments, because loss of antigenicity can produce weak or misleading results.

2016

In this antigen-driven colitis model, OT-II CD4+ T cells expressing a red fluorescent protein were adoptively transferred into RAG-/- mice that express a green fluorescent protein in mononuclear phagocytes (MPs). The hosts were challenged with Escherichia coli (E.coli) expressing the ovalbumin protein (OVA) fused to a cyan fluorescent protein (CFP).

2025

Donor heart preservation is a major determinant of success in heart transplantation. Technological advances have led to optimizing the conditions of preservation, along with a more accurate assessment of the donor heart before transplantation. We herein describe two innovative technologies currently applied for cardiac preservation: uniform cooling preservation and normothermic ex-situ heart perfusion.
