Axillary Artery

The axillary artery is the major blood vessel that carries oxygenated blood from the thorax into the upper limb, making it central to upper-limb anatomy and circulation. It begins at the lateral border of the first rib as a continuation of the subclavian artery, travels through the axilla, and becomes the brachial artery at the inferior border of the teres major muscle; along its course, it gives rise to branches that supply the shoulder, thoracic wall, and surrounding muscles. Understanding its divisions, branches, and anatomical relationships supports the study of biology, physical examination, vascular injury, and surgical procedures.

2026

This study describes a standardized surgical procedure for single-port endoscopic axillary lymph node dissection without liposuction in breast cancer. Indicated for patients with biopsy-confirmed nodal metastasis or positive sentinel lymph nodes, the technique emphasizes preservation of critical structures, particularly the intercostobrachial nerve, to reduce postoperative morbidity and optimize functional recovery.

Blood pressure monitoring is one of the essential vital signs, and for a majority of patients, measuring it utilizing non-invasive techniques provides accurate values. However, there are situations in which the blood pressure requires more exact, specific, and reliable measurements.
