Micro Iris Scissors

Micro iris scissors are small, precision cutting instruments designed for delicate biological dissection and microsurgical procedures, where controlled handling and minimal tissue disruption matter. Their short, fine blades open and close through finger or handle pressure, allowing researchers to make precise cuts in thin tissues, membranes, sutures, and other small biological materials under magnification. In biology laboratories, these scissors support specimen preparation, tissue isolation, ophthalmic research, and manipulation of fragile structures in anatomy and cell biology studies. Their compact design improves access in confined areas, while sharp, accurately aligned blades help produce clean cuts and reproducible results.

In newt, the lens regenerates always from the dorsal iris by transdifferentiation of the iris pigmented epithelial cells (IPEs). Here we describe a procedure to culture dorsal and ventral newt IPE cells and their implantation to the newt eye. The implanted cells are then studied by tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry.

Quantitative, high-throughput, real-time, and label-free biomolecular detection (DNA, protein, etc.) on SiO2 surfaces can be achieved using a simple interferometric technique which relies on LED illumination, minimal optical components, and a camera. The Interferometric Reflectance Imaging Sensor (IRIS) is inexpensive, simple to use, and amenable to microarray formats.

Iris Fixation via External Pentagram Suturing

2022

The present protocol describes how a 10-0 polypropylene suture crosses the anterior surface of the iris, forming a pentagram to prevent both iris and pupil from moving toward the cornea. This can be combined with subsequent keratoplasty to cure bullous keratopathy with extensive anterior synechia of the iris.

Puncture-Induced Iris Neovascularization as a Mouse Model of Rubeosis Iridis

Iris neovascularization, a common complication of ischemic retinal disease, may lead to sight-threatening neovascular glaucoma. Here, we describe a murine protocol for inducing experimental iris neovascularization that may be used for noninvasive evaluation of angiogenesis-modulating substances.
