Molecular Technique Detection

Molecular technique detection refers to methods that identify and measure nucleic acids, proteins, or other biomolecules in biological samples, enabling researchers to recognize changes that may be invisible at the cellular or organismal level. These methods use selective interactions, such as probe binding to complementary DNA or RNA, antibody recognition of proteins, or amplification of target sequences, often producing fluorescent, electrical, or sequencing-based signals. In biology, molecular detection supports pathogen identification, genetic testing, gene-expression analysis, biomarker measurement, and environmental monitoring. Its sensitivity and specificity help connect molecular changes with disease, development, and biological function.

The preparing and processing of dried blood spots (DBS) for their final analysis are still poorly standardized for most diagnostic applications. To overcome this shortcoming, a comprehensive step-by-step protocol is suggested and subsequently evaluated with regard to its effectiveness for detecting markers of viral infections.

We describe a rapid, molecular-based Influenza A and B assay. The Influenza assay detects each target within 15 min by employing isothermal amplification with influenza-specific primers followed by target detection with molecular beacon probes. The Influenza A and B assay is user-friendly and required minimal hands-on time to perform.

Molecular Cloning

Molecular cloning is a set of methods, which are used to insert recombinant DNA into a vector - a carrier of DNA molecules that will replicate recombinant DNA fragments in host organisms. The DNA fragment, which may be a gene, can be isolated from a prokaryotic or eukaryotic specimen. Following isolation of the fragment of interest, or insert, both the vector and insert must be cut with restriction enzymes and purified. The purified pieces are joined together though a technique called...
