Omp Expression Purification

Omp expression purification is a specialized method for producing and isolating outer membrane proteins, which are important for studying bacterial cell envelopes, transport, adhesion, and host interactions. The process typically introduces an omp gene or recombinant construct into a bacterial host, induces protein expression, disrupts the cells, and uses detergents to solubilize membrane-embedded proteins before purification, often by affinity chromatography. Purified Omp proteins support biochemical, structural, and immunological investigations, including analysis of membrane permeability, protein folding, vaccine-antigen properties, and antibiotic or ligand interactions. Careful control of expression and detergent conditions helps preserve protein stability and function.
