Proliferation Medium

Proliferation medium is a cell culture formulation designed to support cell survival, growth, and division under controlled laboratory conditions. It supplies essential nutrients, salts, energy sources, and often serum or defined growth factors that regulate cell-cycle entry and sustain biosynthetic activity. By adjusting these components to the needs of a particular cell type, researchers can expand primary cells, maintain established cell lines, and produce sufficient material for experiments. Proliferation media are therefore important in studies of cell biology, development, disease, drug response, tissue engineering, and regenerative research, where consistent cell growth improves experimental reproducibility.

Abnormal Proliferation

2021

Under normal conditions, most adult cells remain in a non-proliferative state unless stimulated by internal or external factors to replace lost cells. Abnormal cell proliferation is a condition in which the cell's growth exceeds and is uncoordinated with normal cells. In such situations, cell division persists in the same excessive manner even after cessation of the stimuli, leading to persistent tumors. The tumor arises from the damaged cells that replicate to pass the damage to the daughter...

2018

Here detailed protocols for culturing the murine myeloid precursor 32D/G-CSF-R cell line, performing viral infections, and carrying out proliferation and differentiation assays are presented. This cell line is suitable for studying myeloid cell development, and the role of genes of interest in myeloid cell growth and neutrophilic differentiation.

Biosynthesis of Polyhydroxyalkanoates by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a Carbon-Rich Medium

2025

Begin with a strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria, isolated from oil-contaminated soil, in a medium containing a nitrogen source and an excess of edible oil as the carbon source. This strain synthesizes polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), a long-chain polymer useful in producing bioplastics.Incubate under agitation to facilitate aeration and promote bacterial growth.Initially, the medium supplies both carbon and nitrogen sources to support bacterial proliferation and generate high biomass.After...

Choroid Sprouting Assay to Study Ocular Microvascular Proliferation Ex Vivo

2025

This video demonstrates the development of an ex vivo model of choroidal sprouting to study ocular microvascular angiogenesis. The assay involves culturing mouse eye explants containing the choroid tissue attached to the sclera and retinal pigment epithelium under specific conditions that promote choroidal microvascular sprouting.
