Single Cell Sequencing

Single-cell sequencing is a set of genomic methods that measures DNA or RNA in individual cells, revealing biological variation hidden by population-level analyses. Typically, researchers isolate or partition single cells, lyse them, and amplify their nucleic acids, often attaching cell-specific barcodes before high-throughput sequencing and computational analysis assigns each read to its cell of origin. In biology, these profiles can identify rare cell populations, distinguish cell states, map developmental or disease-related trajectories, and connect gene-expression patterns with cellular function. The approach supports studies of tissues, tumors, immune responses, and cellular diversity.
